KIMBERLY HUGHES
Writing/Editing/Translation
I am a freelance writer based in Tokyo covering human interest feature stories,
grassroots social movements, culture, arts/design, food/drink, and travel in Japan and beyond.
My articles and photographs have appeared in publications including the Asahi Weekly, Japan Times, Japan Today,
Kyoto Journal, Lonely Planet, The Mainichi, Metropolis, Tokyo Updates, Tokyo Weekender,
and a number of overseas creative magazines.
In addition to writing, I am also a Japanese to English translator, editor, interpreter, and voice recording artist.
I work across a wide variety of fields for client projects, from corporate reports to creative advertising to academic essays.
Finally, I have taught English-language courses to students at several universities
across the metropolis focusing on creating positive social change.
I am available for assignments, and I look forward to hearing from you
to see how we might work together. Thank you so much for stopping by!
It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be. Maybe that’s enlightenment enough; to know that there is no final resting place of the mind; no smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom…is realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go.
